Welcoming (ministry team)

The Welcoming Ministry Team’s role is to intentionally connect with our mission partners and guests, so they feel valued and cared for.  We truly believe God has invited everyone who comes through our doors or connects with our online service and we want them to feel and experience God’s welcome through us.

Hospitality (ministry team)

The Hospitality Team’s role is to plan and serve hospitality (coffee, donuts, etc.) on Sunday mornings and for all New Heights special events. They partner with the Welcoming Team to create an overall welcoming presence for our mission partners and guests, fostering and sharing the hospitality of “Welcome.”

Break Bakers (worship life team)

The Worship Life Teams are the hands and feet of the practical parts of worship. These teams are coordinated by Team Leads, and rotate each week to assist in our Sunday morning ministry. Each team plays a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at each service, every week.  Bread bakers are equipped with a recipe and training to help provide communion bread for the faith community.

Communion Preparers (worship life team)

The Worship Life Teams are the hands and feet of the practical parts of worship. These teams are coordinated by Team Leads, and rotate each week to assist in our Sunday morning ministry. Each team plays a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at each service, every week.  Communion Preparers help prepare the elements by plating and pouring the bread and juice for each service.

The Worship Life Teams are the hands and feet of the practical parts of worship. These teams are coordinated by Team Leads, and rotate each week to assist in our Sunday morning ministry. Each team plays a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at each service, every week.  Communion Servers help serve the elements at each worship service on a rotating schedule.

Offering Counters (worship life team)

The Worship Life Teams are the hands and feet of the practical parts of worship. These teams are coordinated by Team Leads, and rotate each week to assist in our Sunday morning ministry. Each team plays a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at each service, every week.  Offering counters help to ensure financial gifts made on Sundays are secure and counted each week.

Worship Musicians (worship life team)

The Worship Life Teams are the hands and feet of the practical parts of worship. These teams are coordinated by Team Leads, and rotate each week to assist in our Sunday morning ministry. Each team plays a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at each service, every week.  Worship musicians help to enhance the message of God’s word through song. The praise and traditional teams are always looking for worship-hearted musically talented folks to help lead each week.

The Worship Life Teams are the hands and feet of the practical parts of worship. These teams are coordinated by Team Leads, and rotate each week to assist in our Sunday morning ministry. Each team plays a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at each service, every week.  The tech booth team consists of our slides, audio, and livestream camera mission partners passionate about helping with worship accessibility through our many senses. Tech assistants must go through training and a shadowing period before manning equipment solo.

ASL Interpreters: (DHH ministry)

Our Deaf & Hard of Hearing Ministry (DHH) offers interpreting services for at least one service per Sunday. Our awesome interpreters play a vital role in our ability to Love God. Love Neighbor. And Grow Disciples. at services every week.

Funeral Luncheons

A meal following a funeral or memorial service is offered to grieving families. This ministry offers the family a chance to grieve and spend time together with family and friends without having to think about food preparation.  Volunteers to provide food and/or serve the food are welcome.

Prayer & Baptismal Shawls (fiber arts ministry)

Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy.  Many blessings are prayed into every stitch.  New Heights Mission Partners gather in groups or work independently making Prayer Shawls & Baptismal Shawls.

Quilting (fiber arts ministry)

Compassion and the love of quilting / sewing have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice which reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. New Heights Mission Partners gather in groups or work independently making quilts for various donation efforts. Group working times are available weekly.

Communion Visitation

Communion Visitation Ministers are part of a service based on an understanding of Holy Communion that sees the Sacrament reaching out to embrace those who are forced to be absent from Worship because of illness or being homebound.  It is an extension of our Weekend Communion Meal.  This ministry ties together the proclamation of the Word through the Words of Institution and the ministry to the ill and homebound.  A clear connection is made between members of the congregation in the sacrament, whether assembled in the worship service or separated from the congregation.  Communion Ministers are carefully trained to carry out this important ministry.  Communion visitors visit each homebound person monthly.

Wisconsin Heights Community Sharing Tree

New Height Lutheran Church graciously cooperates with the Wisconsin Heights Community Sharing Tree Team during the month of December each year.  Tags are available on the Sharing Tree for gift purchases several weeks prior to the Sharing Tree Day.  Volunteers from New Heights assist as well as provide gifts for the families.

Heights Unlimited Community Resource Center

Heights Unlimited is located in The Grove and serves those in need of food, clothing, and essentials in the greater Wisconsin Heights School district and the surrounding area communities.  Needs are addressed through weekly distributions, and specialty food programs in the community. Although fully staffed and funded by donations from faith communities, businesses, individuals, and service organizations, Heights Unlimited is a ministry of New Heights Church and operates under New Heights Lutheran Church Tax Exempt status.

Family Faith Night Children’s Teachers

Family Faith Night is an intergenerational evening of fellowship and faith formation. Each Wednesday, young and old alike gather for dinner, and then disperse into age-appropriate programming opportunities including: Children’s programming, Confirmation (Middle School), and Adult Small Group Bible Studies. For this large gathering to happen, teachers are needed for ages 0-5th grade. Teachers are well equipped with an annual curriculum folder, and tasked not to do the Bible teaching, but to love kids well once the teaching has been done.

Family Faith Night Meal Volunteers

Family Faith Night is an intergenerational evening of fellowship and faith formation. Each Wednesday, young and old alike gather for dinner, and then disperse into age-appropriate programming opportunities including: Children’s programming, Confirmation (Middle School), and Adult Small Group Bible Studies. For this large gathering to happen, meal volunteers are needed to prepare, serve, and clean up. Help support our Lead Cook with volunteer blocks of 1-1.5 hours at a time. Adult Small Group Leaders (in-person & online options)

New Heights Small Groups are all led by mission partners that have discerned their call to be in a leadership and facilitative role. Each small group is different and may compile a variance of demographics. Small Group Leaders will help discern the study’s content and group direction, while walking alongside their members in faithful conversation, curiosity, and relationship. Leaders may have a variety of backgrounds and experience in leading–what’s important is remembering that everyone (not just the Pastor) is equipped to share the love and good news of Christ!

Youth Chaperones

Throughout the program year, Youth attend numerous activities and events both at the church and in alternate locations. Event Chaperones are mission partners (often parents but sometimes unrelated to the students in attendance) that are there to help support and assist in the event’s programs and activities, and to build faithful relationships with New Heights Youth.

Vacation Bible School

New Heights’ Vacation Bible School takes place for one week each summer and is hosted by New Heights volunteers and Sugar Creek Bible Camp staff members. In previous years, over 100 kids have come to spread the week to learn more about God, make new friends, and engage in fun games and activities. Volunteers assist with different class ages, snack and meal prep.

Trunk-or-Treat

Each October, New Heights throws a Trunk-or-Treat Halloween celebration for the Wisconsin Heights community. Volunteers assist in setting up and taking down decorations, making and serving food, hosting games, and giving out candy at their vehicles. The parking lot and building are transformed, as we engage with neighborhood friends and families, and children of all ages. .

Property & Facilities (operations team)

The Property and Facilities Team is accountable to oversee the care, maintenance and updates to the properties owned by New Heights Lutheran Church. They ensure the facilities and properties are well maintained, welcoming to our mission partners and guests, and ensure investments in the facilities are appropriately based on future plans to build a new facility and sell the existing facility.

Personnel (operations team)

The Personnel Team is accountable for defining and facilitating the personnel systems, processes, and policies that assist the church in calling and retaining ministry staff and other personnel necessary to fulfill our mission.  This includes the systems, process, and policies that govern the recruitment, appointment, compensation, recognition, and termination of employees (staff) of New Heights Lutheran Church.

The Technology Team develops, implements and maintains a plan, near and long term, to address the technology needs of the congregation in support of our mission to Love God, Love Neighbor, and Grow Disciples.

Finance (operations team)

The Finance Team operates on behalf of New Heights Lutheran Church providing effective and accountable financial management of New Heights’ financial matters.  They are responsible for carrying out the church’s mission and vision related to finance, encouraging a mission-driven church where finances are not a constraint, where we partner with other teams and staff to achieve our vision, and where good stewardship guides the use of the congregation’s ressources.

The purpose of the Grants Initiative and Fundraising Team is to establish and advance a fundraising process to support the charitable outreach of New Heights Church and The Grove. The team works to identify sources of potential funding to support projects, programs, and the organizational mission. These fundraising efforts actively help to alleviate needs and improve lives in our local communities.

Audit Committee (operations sub-team)

The Audit Committee performs an audit of the financial records of New Heights Lutheran Church and all its organizations and accounts on an annual basis. The committee makes a full and complete report to the Finance Team and Vision Team.

Serve & Care Planning (ministry team)

The Serve and Care Planning Team plans, coordinates, and supports the serve and care ministries so that Mission Partners have opportunities to use their gifts in mission and ministry. Those opportunities address the social, economic, emotional, and spiritual needs of our church family and neighbors in our community, our region, our country, and our world. These mission partners are commonly highly involved in the serve and care ministries before invitation to the Serve & Care Planning Team.

Youth Ministry Planning (ministry team)

The Youth Ministry Planning Team helps plan and implement a comprehensive approach to youth ministry.  This approach encourages youth in developing their relationship with God and the church community, challenges them to respond to God’s call to serve in their communities and the world, and provides opportunities for youth to grow in their faith and articulate what they believe.

Prayer (ministry team)

The Prayer Team upholds the congregation, its ministries and the community in prayer.  They strive to educate, empower and inspire the congregation in their prayer lives.  They encourage and provide opportunities for all ages to continually spend time in prayer; whether asking for prayer, praying for and with others or building a personal relationship with God.

The Worship Planning team collaborates with the Lead Pastor to establish systems, facilitate long-term planning, and coordinate the worship experience for mission partners. These mission partners are commonly highly involved in the Praise Team before invitation to the Worship Planning Team.

Vision Team (church council)

Through prayerful discernment and listening to God, the Vision Team’s primary role is to guide and lead New Heights in discovering and living out God’s vision and mission for our church.  As the governing board of the church, the Vision Team consists of six elected Mission Partners serving two-year terms along with staff members serving in administrative roles.
